The Greymouth Star, with the support of RNZ and NZ On Air's Public Interest Journalism Fund, is hiring a journalist to join Local Democracy Reporting in 2022 and 2023.
You will be covering local authorities and other publicly-funded organisations, but also going out and talking to the people affected by these organisations' decisions, sharing their stories, and coming up with your own stories on similar topics.
You will report to the editor of the Greymouth Star and the Hokitika Guardian.
Your work will be made available at the same time to all of the programme's media partners, including RNZ.
This could be a full time or a part-time role depending on the successful candidate, who should have proven journalism experience and a journalism qualification.
Some experience of local government is preferred.
This is a fixed term role (through to 31 December 2023). Assistance with relocation costs may be considered.
Visit RNZ's website for more information about the LDR service:
Applications close: 5pm Wednesday 8 December 2021. Your CV, cover letter, work samples, etc, should be sent to Greymouth Star editor Paul Madgwick at
